Coding Earth and Space

This afternoon, we have learnt how to code different shapes. We linked it to our earth and space topic. We changed the sprite to a planet and chose an appropriate space themed background.

Australian Aboriginal journey sticks

This afternoon, we have been creating journey sticks. This week in literacy, we have focused on autobiographies. Today, we story mapped our plan, focusing on the key events in our lives. This afternoon, we spent creating a journey stick of our life so far.

Reversible or irreversible changes

This afternoon, we were investigating the difference between irreversible and reversible changes. Reversible means being able to form its shape again and irreversible means its the change cannot be undone.

We carried out a experiment using a variety of different food types: toffee, potato, chocolate, eggs and butter. We had to decide whether these types of food where reversible or irreversible.

Can you think of any more food types that may be reversible?

Science week

Starting this weeks science week, we were investigating which material would be the best insulator. We were testing out different materials for a new lunchbox lining. We found that plastic was the best material because it kept the ice-cube the coldest for the longest. We tested fabric and foil too.

This afternoon, we have been busy building on our knowledge and skills in order to complete the farming award. Focusing on the principles of plant growth.

This afternoon, we have been researching all about fossils and extinction. We have found out that lots of different animals are now extinct, for example, the Dodo, Western black rhinoceros and the Quagga.

Life cycles

This afternoon, we have been looking at the life cycles of both plants and animals. We have been learning about Jane Goodall and have been recording key bits of information in our books. What do you know about plant and animal life cycles?
