Creating a report


This afternoon we have been looking at the Jewish Faith and researched The Holocaust during World War 2, once we had gathered our information we created a report on the information we had found.




Morse Code

This afternoon Class 8 have researched Samuel Morse and how morse code was used to send messages between soldiers during the war, in pairs we have created a morse code game using scratch.

Cooking Pear Crumble

Today Class 8 have been using a war time recipe to cook pear crumble, we talked about how we have been using our math and literacy skills with in our cooking, we have  focused on using multiplication skills to ensure there was enough ingredients for the whole class and measuring skills to ensure the correct amount of ingredients was used, we also used literacy skills to read the instructions in chronological order.

WWII Music

Today Class 8 have been looking into the famous musicians/composers that were around during World War 2, we have looked into musicians such as Louis Armstrong, George Formby and Glen Miller.

Once completing our research we worked into pairs to create a keynote.


This afternoon we put our coding skills to practice. We used Sphero to code different types of shapes and angles. We also used our knowledge on time to code by drawing shapes clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Exploring Chinese Music

This afternoon, we were introduced to different pieces of Chinese music. We spoke about different Chinese instruments. Some instruments include: Qin, Zheng and the Pipa. We were able to have a go and create a piece of Chinese music.

Data analysis

This afternoon, we analysed a set of data. We recorded it’s mean, median and mode. We used our maths skills to work out the answers.

The data was about the amount of deaths from the plague in Shakespearean times.

Can you explain how we would find out the mean, median and mode?

The plague in Stratford Upon Avon

This afternoon, we investigated the total amount of deaths during the years 1563-1565. We generated our own questions and analysed the data. Using our maths skills, we found out that 1564 had the total amount of deaths. We also applied our maths skills learnt this week (subtracting by counting on, on a number line) to help us interpret that data.
